Small-town charmECLECTIC CULTURE

In addition to the considerable charms offered by Hillsborough (arts, entertainment, dining, shopping, events and more), Forest Ridge provides a wealth of amenities.

Mother Nature is the author of some of the most spectacular features of our community, including 25 acres of riverfront forest we’ve carefully preserved for the enjoyment of present and future generations.

Other amenities include a Junior Olympic pool and a walking trail that links to other riverfront trails, such as the historic Occoneechee Speedway Trail. At Forest Ridge, we’ll keep you connected with activities, the land and one another.

Forest Ridge Amenity Center

History

Founded in 1754 and a center of political activity during the Revolutionary Period, Hillsborough features more than 100 homes and buildings dating back to the late 1700s and 1800s including the iconic Orange County Courthouse and the elegant Ayr Mount plantation house. The town’s Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Culture

The Town of Hillsborough, a vibrant haven for writers and artists, is a mix of the old and the new, the charming and the inspiring. Visitors and residents alike enjoy the diverse array of art galleries, boutique restaurants and shops in the heart of town.

Wellness

At Forest Ridge, staying fit is easy. Forest Ridge is planned to connect to downtown Hillsborough via Riverwalk, a public greenway trail along the Eno River that will become part of the 530-mile Mountains-to-Sea Trail.

Other amenities in the community will include a Junior Olympic pool, a tot lot and a spacious multi-purpose playfield. Plus, just across the street is the Orange County Sportsplex, a robust community center that offers fitness programs, indoor aquatics, and an ice rink for skating and hockey.

Convenience

With quick access to I-85 and I-40, commutes to Research Triangle Park, where some of the largest employers in the area are located, and Raleigh International Airport are less than 30 minutes away. Renowned healthcare, cultural programs and sports events in Durham and Chapel Hill are less than 20 minutes away. And The Streets at Southpoint mall is only a 20-minute drive.

Sustainability

Forest Ridge’s planning and design make it North Carolina’s first Four-Star (highest level) candidate community for National Green Building Standard certification. Homes, featuring traditional architecture and modern conveniences, will also achieve ENERGY STAR and National Home Builder Association Bronze-Star certifications.

These green practices include the preservation of over 25 acres of riverfront forest, the conversion of storm water basins to wetlands, and the installation of tree protection fencing during construction.
